Can Gaurdian Antivirus work properly without an Internet connection?

Stephen Prastman
Answer by Stephen Prastman

Yes, the antivirus can work offline, but if the developers release a virus definition update, then you will have to manually access the official website to download those update packages to apply them. Having a permanent connection makes it easier to download only what's necessary.

Download updates manually from the following page: http://www.guardianav.co.in/update

How to renew the antivirus?

J
Answer by Julia Bocchetta

You need to purchase a new key then use the online page created for this process. Access the page and enter product details and your antivirus should be renewed. You can buy a licence for your Guardian Antivirus from a local resellers or someone that represents the Guardian Antivirus developers.

My Guardian Antivirus is not updating. I purchased a new licence, but it isn't updating. The Antivirus stopped updating half way. How to fix it?

Answer by Alex Urbach

Open Guardian Antivirus and make sure there is no proxy set up. Additionally, add the application to the firewall's exclusion list. You can do it from Start > Control Panel > System and security > Windows Firewall > Allow a program through the firewall. If it still doesn't work, access the official website and download the update package. The archive is approximately 583 MB. Save the GUAR2014.exe file to your computer and then run it. Follow the instructions and the antivirus should be updated with the latest definitions.

If the automatic update fails, I recommend installing the updates in a manual way. You can obtain the update package from the official Updates page. Download the package, extract it to a folder of choice and perform a manual update and select Pick from Specified Path option pointing the installer to the folder you've extracted the updated file and wait.

I am trying to install Guardian Antivirus from a CD, but I have an internal error code 1603.

J
Answer by Julia Bocchetta

This error is related to permissions management. You are trying to install the antivirus without necessary elevated rights. Please run the setup with Run as Administrator handle when you right click the file. This way the package will have access to write in system directories.

You can visit the online FAQ on how to access, remove or modify the password to the application.

The latest update is from 20th February 2013. If the antivirus is not updating all by itself then you will need to download the manual update file. Download the archive, extract it to a folder, perform the manual update and point the antivirus to that location.

Is there another way to update Guardian Antivirus because Quick Update doesn't work.

R
Answer by Robert Polubinski

If you don't have the possibility to update the antivirus via the Quick Update module, then there's the possibility to download the manual update for the program. Access the official website and click on the first download link from the top post. The file size is somewhere about 500 MB and it might take a while before it's downloaded on your computer. However, adjust the firewall and make sure to allow the application to connect to the Internet and the update servers.
